Padilla; sisters, Chonita Alvarez, Mary Hernandez, Emma Maldonado, and Margaret Perez; brothers, Manuel Garcia and Jesse Garcia; numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna was a 1953, graduate of the Shannon School of Nursing. As a classmate she was the one to do last minute alterations for her nursing sisters and was quick to bring to their attention if a uniform did not meet the professional standards of the time. Becoming a Registered Nurse and working in public health was an inherent choice as part of her strength of character she displayed early in life. Not only was she a caregiver, healer, person of an abundance of empathy but she led by example. As a health professional, Edna established the first Family Planning Program in San Angelo because of the need she became aware of through her work in public health. As members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Edna and Alex were instrumental in the development of the CCD program for the youth of St. Joseph's, as well as serving as Eucharistic ministers. They were active in all aspects of their church community with Edna serving on the Altar Society and she was proud of the fact that she organized the first Wednesday Adoration hour. She could often be found in quite solitude praying her rosary and when in need of prayers, Edna was unrivaled when it came to the belief of the power of prayer. As wife and mother, she became the family seamstress while working as a professional and supporting Alex and their children in whatever endeavors they undertook, it was never unusual to find her at the sewing machine because anything less than a perfect fit was unacceptable. Edna was a task master of an unequaled standard, yet she did not demand anything of others she did not demand of herself.

The family would like to thank Hospice of San Angelo for the excellent care they provided, and to the family and friends for their love and support.
