Jose F. Guerra

Jose F. Guerra, 64, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by family.

Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Fairmount Cemetery with Rev. J.T. Tucker, Chaplin of Shannon Medical Center, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Guerra was born March 9, 1959 in Brady to the Rev. Bonifacio P. Guerra and Julia G. Guerra. Jose has been a lifelong resident of San Angelo. He graduated from Central High School in 1978 and earned his bachelor's degree from Angelo State University in Criminal Justice in December of 2010. He had a long career working in the field of criminal justice and held many different positions and titles within that field.
Jose attended San Angelo Cowboy Church. He loved spending time with family, fishing, and camping. Jose would collect any John F. Kennedy memorabilia and was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins.

Survivors include two brothers, Alejandro Guerra and wife Connie of Big Spring, and Gabriel Guerra of San Angelo; three sisters, Pauline Martinez and husband Ben, Rose Guerra both of San Angelo, and Mary Guerra and husband Wesley Cagle of Irving; many nieces, nephew, great nieces, and great nephews. Jose was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Julia Reyes; and a brother, Isaiah R. Guerra

Pallbearers will be Alejandro Guerra, Gabriel Guerra, Ben Martinez, Wesley Cagle, David Dyer, Chris Ontiveros, and Stefan Field. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jose's many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Jose was a great son, brother, uncle, and friend. Jose's greatest joy was caring for others. His kind and loving spirit will be greatly missed. When asked what he would say to others if he could after he passed, he said tell them, "I just saw Jesus. I tell you He is ALIVE!"
