A. Wayne Henson, 91, passed away on the morning of Easter, April 17, 2022.
Wayne was reunited with His loving wife, family, and friends in the presence of the Lord God Almighty. His shining example of God's love that he shown throughout his time here will be missed.
Wayne was born on May 17, 1930 in Levelland and was raised in "Beautiful" Quemado and San Angelo. He attended Lakeview High School and was the Drum Major for the marching band. After school he worked as a soda jerk and for Westinghouse delivering telegrams, Wayne was drafted for the Korean War where he served 2 years in communications. He worked as a roughneck in the oil fields with his brothers TL, Burlin, and Douglas. He later moved to Beaver Falls with his best friend Jerry Kullen. They had a couple of jobs together and even a business venture or two. While in Beaver Falls Wayne married the Love of his life His "Little Florencia", Florence Muery. Soon after they moved back to San Angelo where he worked for a couple different loan offices and then opened his first Pawn shop with his brother TL. This led to Wayne branching out and opening his own Pawn shop that eventually turned into his greatest venture Wayne's Trading Post, this became the family business that lasted for more than 25 years. He also was co-owner of Quick Loan Service with offices both in San Angelo and Del Rio. These ventures provided him the ability to do the one thing Wayne and Florence loved to do, travel. They traveled around the world, but his favorites were Mexico, Norway, England, Paris, Egypt, Israel, and all over the United States. He loved reminiscing and telling of their great adventures of those amazing travels. Wayne made a lasting impression on everyone he came across and met very few strangers in his 91 years here. His smile, laugh, knowledge, and his Strong Faith in Our Lord God will be missed.
