ADOLPH "DUTCH" D. STUERMER

Adolph Diedrich "Dutch" Stuermer, 89, died July 28, 2004 in San Angelo, TX. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 31, 2004 at the Nordheim Cemetery in Nordheim, TX. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Dutch was born August 25, 1914 to Walter C. Stuermer and Louise Janssen Stuermer. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Adolph graduated from Nordheim High School in 1932. He received a M.A. Degree in Architecture from Rice Institute in 1940. He married Annella Stites of Sonora, TX. During World War II he worked in Norfolk, Virginia in the Construction of Naval Bases and manufacturing of Quonset buildings in Detroit, Michigan. After the war he worked in Houston, TX for several architectural firms until moving to San Angelo, TX where he owned McRan, Inc., specializing in steel buildings. He designed his one of a kind home in San Angelo, one designed like no other. The home was photographed and described in the San Angelo Standard Times, San Angelo, Texas in 1964. He was the architect for the addition to the Spur Building in San Angelo, the Sarah Barnhart Theater at Central High School in San Angelo, the Truck Stop in Ozona, Texas and numerous buildings in West Texas and New Mexico. Mr. Stuermer also served on the Committee responsible for obtaining water for San Angelo. "Dutch" raised German short-haired Pointers and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He married Crystal Wiley of Abilene, Texas in 1949. In February 2001 he married Laverna Lakey of San Angelo. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and wife Crystal Stuermer. Survivors are: Wife:Laverna Lakey Stuermer Step-children:Kerry Lakey and Lora Lakey Sister:Inez Klaeveman and husband Ivie of San Antonio Brother-in-law: Leonard Lambert and sons, Len, Mark and Larry Lambert Nephew:Jim Klaeveman and wife Melody of San Antonio Niece:Jane Beneke and husband Ron of Dallas Three great-nieces:Ivy Oliver and husband Patrick Carli Klaeveman Sky Mulkey Three great nephews:Brian, Mark and Alex Beneke of Dallas Great-great-niece:Felicia Guffy Numerous loving cousins and many dear friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Irvin Zeitler and staff and his caring friends at Heritage House Nursing Center.
