Albert M. Chavez, 67, of San Angelo, passed into the arms of Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at his residence after a battle with kidney disease and cancer. He was born on January 28, 1949 to Ismael and Aurelia (Martinez) Chavez in San Angelo, TX. Albert worked as an insurance salesman for Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens and 25 years at Brotherton Produce Co. On June 28, 1974 he married Irene Lopez in San Angelo. Albert and Irene lived in San Angelo, Texas. He was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral. He loved to cook and music from the 70's and 80's. Albert loved his Dallas Cowboys, L.A. Lakers and the New York Yankee's. Pallbearers will be Freddie Arocha, Manuel Zapata, Phillip Chavez, Raymond Torres, John Martinez, Sam Gaitan and Michael Williams. He was preceded in death by parents and a brother, Joe Chavez, his mother and father in law; Santos and Eusebio Lopez. Albert is survived by his loving spouse of 42 years, Irene L. Chavez of San Angelo, daughter, Monica (George Patton) Lopez of San Angelo, brothers, Ismael (Anita) Chavez, Jr. of Fresno, CA, and Freddy Chavez of Dallas, grandson, Michael Zapata, granddaughter, Rosaelia (Mike) Zapata - Williams, grandson, Manuel Zapata IV, sister in law, Lupe Chavez, sister in law, Mary (John Martinez) Torres, sister in law, Juanita Olsen, great-granddaughter, Isa Zapata, great-granddaughter, Gabby Zapata, great-granddaughter, Alexia Zapata, great-grandson, Andrew Zapata, great-granddaughter, Halie Zapata great-granddaughter, Avery Zapata, great-grandson, Ethan Zapata all of San Angelo A special ex grand-daughter in law, Sonia Garcia and special family friend, Cassie DeLeon. Visitation will be 10:00am to 8:00pm on Wednesday September 14, 2016 at Robert Massie Funeral Home, San Angelo, Texas. Rosary will be 7:00pm on Wednesday September 14, 2016 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Memorial Mass will be held 10:00am Friday, September 16, 2016, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with the Very Reverend Steven Hicks, officiating, under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
