Alex F. "Choforo" Flores died peacefully in San Angelo, TX on September 26, 2008 after living a wonderful life of 82 years. A Rosary will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Quirino Cornejo officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Choforo was born on October 23, 1925 in Del Rio, Texas, to Alejo and Viviana Flores. Choforo served as a Private First Class in the Rhineland Campaign against the Germans during WWII. He was discharged with Honors and two Bronze Stars on May 18, 1946. He married Virginia Rodriguez in 1960, and they stayed in San Angelo to build their lives. He was skilled carpenter and loved to work at his trade. He retired from Angelo State University in 1987. Alex is survived by his wife Virginia. Sons, Robert Flores of California; Anastacio "Tacho" Villarreal; Richard Villarreal; John Villarreal; and Steve Flores of Houston, TX.., Daughter, Ida Flores of California; Linda De La Rosa of Dallas; RoseAnn Flores of California; Francis Flores of California; Nellie Sosa; Lydia Vega; and Eva Villarreal and numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alex possessed a tremendous work ethic, and was a role model to his family. He taught his family responsibility, integrity and that a person can change for the best, if he or she only chooses to. He was loved by many and will be missed greatly. The Family would like to thank the Shannon Nurses, staff, and Dr. Dee on four south.
