Alexandra Pappas (Sandra) Greer, a long-time resident of San Angelo, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in the peacefulness of her home. Born in November 25, 1923 in Dallas, Texas, she completed an Associate degree from San Angelo College. On September 3, 1950 - she married the love of her life, a handsome JAG (Judge Advocate General) Captain, Theodore Greer, who was stationed at Goodfellow AFB. They were married for 21 years before Lt. Col. Greer preceded her in death. They traveled extensively and visited many places worldwide. She worked and retired from Goodfellow AFB. For many years she was the Food Service Officer monitoring the contracts for Dining Hall on base. In 1986, she was awarded the Civilian Employee of the Year. Alexandra loved good food and socializing, enjoyed going to movies and plays with friends, and always enjoyed collecting antiques. She was a dedicated wife, a great mother, wonderful caring grandmother, Aunt, and homemaker. She always had an amazing Greek dish prepared for her family for every Sunday lunch. She instilled strong morals in her family and exemplified elegance and class by her example. She is preceded in death by her husband Lt. Col. Theodore Greer; her parents, Charles and Despina Pappas; her 2 brothers, Nick Pappas and George Nickolas; Sister-in-law, Christene Michalopulos Pappas; and her nephew, Michael Nick Pappas. She is survived by her son, Rev. Fr. Elias (Ted) Greer, her 3 grandchildren, Emily MacLeod and Alex Greer of San Angelo, Katherine Manyai of Abilene, Sister-in-law Jean Nickolas of San Antonio; 2 nieces, Deborah Pappas Henke of San Angelo and her husband Dr. Clyde Henke; Denise Pappas Jackson of Christoval and her husband Pat Jackson - and their daughters, Great nieces Christina Jackson of Christoval and Stephanie Jackson of San Angelo - all of whom bought great joy to her throughout her life. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 4, 2011 at Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church with Father James Hademenos officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.
