Alfred "Andy" Harold Anderson, born February 13, 1924, passed away quietly and peacefully in the early morning hours of June 22, 2011, at his residence at the age of 87 years. Viewing will be Friday, June 24, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Robert Massie Funeral Home, 402 Rio Concho Drive in San Angelo. A private burial service will be held on June 25, 2011. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Andy was born to Olie and Ola Anderson on February 13, 1924, in Stamford, Texas, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his brother and his wife, Grady and Marie Anderson of Waco; and his sister and her husband, Irene and Jack Franklin of Ovalo. Andy resided in Abilene until 1964 when he moved to San Angelo with his wife and son. Andy served in the United States Army and was a WWII veteran. Passionate about his work, he retired from Mustang Chevrolet in 1990. His greatest love in life was spending time with his family. He could be found gardening, fishing, camping, or pulling his great-granddaughter around in her wagon. He was known as "Poppa Anderson" to his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Anderson; son Roland Anderson and his wife Joyce Anderson of San Angelo; grandson Sheldon Anderson and his wife and daughter Jill and Sophia Anderson of Waco; sister Reba Dean and her husband John Dean of Midland; and brother-in-law Charlie Hobbs and his wife Bess Hobbs; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
