ALICE POWELL MCKINNEY

Alice Belle McKinney of Christoval went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Alice was a Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and mentor. She was born March 2, 1919 in Odessa, Tx. to Joseph and Elizabeth Powell. Growing up during hard and difficult times Alice became a strong and independent woman, a rock, which the family could anchor to. Living in Christoval since 1954 she was a supporter of the community, church, and school, volunteering her time to help make each a little better. Her faith in God was unwavering. Alice was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Elizabeth, brothers Avery, George, and William Powell, sisters Lona Taylor, and Echla McKinney, two sons Eugene and Clifford Gibson. She is survived by a brother Luther Powell of Cleburne, TX, a sister Bessie Gregston of Robert Lee TX, a daughter Gerry Marburger of San Angelo TX, a son Doyle McKinney of Christoval TX, daughters-in¬-law Merilyne Gibson of Christoval TX, and Patti Zabecki of San Angelo TX, grandchildren Loyd Neil of Harriet TX , Elizabeth Scott of San Angelo TX, Sonya Burch of Christoval TX, Eugene Gibson Jr. of Granbury, TX, Elisha Abbott of San Angelo, TX, Clifford Gibson Jr. of San Angelo, TX, Shannon Bessett of Downs KS and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be at Ivy Cemetery in Christoval at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2009 with Pastor Buddy Trull officiating. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the good people of Vista Care for all their help and support.
