Alva Rebecca Herman Schriever, 81, of Eola, passed away Thursday, September 01, 2005 on the farm she loved. Rebecca was born September 7, 1923, in Lamesa, Texas. Her parents were Max Leslie and Ola Patterson Herman. She attended schools in Lamesa and Slaton before moving to San Angelo in 1935. She graduated from San Angelo High School. Rebecca and John Schriever, Jr. were married September 14, 1944, and resided on their stock farm in the Eola Community for 60 years before his death October 24, 2004. They raised two sons, George and Joe Schriever, and both parents participated in school activities with them. Becky served as organizational leader for the Wall Girls 4H Club, was a Past President of Wall PTA, and a Past President of the Vancourt Home Demonstration Club. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in San Angelo; member of Ziphron Temple No. 100, Daughters of the Nile; Past Matron and 50-year member of San Angelo Chapter No. 10, Order of the Eastern Star; Past President of San Angelo Assembly No. 190, Social Order of the Beauceant; and Past President of the San Angelo A&M Mothers Club. Rebecca lived her life for God, believed in people, and looked for the good in each person. Her greatest contribution to others was teaching how to live and share the goodness of life though her own example. She enriched the lives of all who knew her through her warmth, intelligence and wit. Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, John George; parents Ola and Max Leslie Herman, Sr.; sister and Brother-in-law Gladys Faye and James Spain,Sr. Her survivors are a daughter-in-law, Barbara Schriever, of Abilene; sons Joe Frederick Schriever, and his wife, Lesley, of Austin and Raj Cheruku, of San Angelo; four grandsons: Mike Schriever of Wichita Falls; Doug Schriever and wife, Kelly, of San Antonio; David Lenihan of Dallas; and Sean Lenihan and wife, Gentle, of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Shikhi Cheruku of San Angelo; three sisters: Bobbie Vest, Phyllis Turner and husband Al, all of San Angelo, and Elizabethe Edington and husband, Cary, of Abilene; three brothers: Max L. Herman, Jr. and wife, Zelda, of Alto; Bill Herman, Sr. and wife, Evelyn, of San Angelo; and John T. Herman and wife, Vickey, of Coleman. Pallbearers are: Thomas Kelso III, Matthew Prosise, Donald Weishuhn, Daniel Gesch, Michael Block, Ronnie Kiester, and Robert Langston. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 3, 2005 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Nelson Erwin C.L.P. of the First Presbyterian Church officiating, with Social Order of the Beauceant rites following. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorials be sent to Hospice of San Angelo.
