April Roman Garcia

April R. Garcia, 55, of San Angelo died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at her residence. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Joey Faylona officiating. Entombment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Services are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. April was born October 30, 1958 in Pecos. She spent her childhood and teenage years in Odessa and Abilene. Her grandparents were solid foundations for her as were numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins that she had. She proudly graduated from Abilene High School in 1977, where she played in the band, served on the color guard, and was in the ROTC. In 1978, she moved to San Angelo, where she worked for West Texas Utilities. She met her husband Robert "Bobby" Garcia and for the next 33.5 years she was a devoted wife and mother. April raised two daughters, Amanda and Michelle, who she taught the importance of education, manners, and family. There wasn't a school project, homework assignment, or field trip that she didn't help with. April was devoted to St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she served as a lector, helped with many Jamaicas, and helped with alter server functions with her girls. Becoming a grandmother was a huge highlight in April's life. The grandkids called her "Grammy". She loved to sing to them, teach them to play games, and read to them. Pallbearers will be Billy Briceno, Albert Garcia, Ruben Garcia, Israel Roman, Eric Roman, and Cecil Garcia. Survived by husband Robert R. Garcia of San Angelo, parents Cora Hinson of Odessa and John Hinson of Afton, daughters Amanda G. Rivero and husband Javier of Portland, Michelle Garcia of San Angelo, step-daughter Cathy Batla of San Angelo, sister Minnie Collett and husband Rick of Matador, step-sisters Phyllis Musitelli and husband James and Judy Knight all of Odessa, and 8 grandchildren, Cheyanna, Cyvonna, Gabriella, Victoria, Isabel, Ileana, Izara, and Isaac, and special and loyal friend, Deigo.
