Arthur Gene "Art" Morton, 68, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 3, 2021.
Memorial Gathering will be at 2:00 PM Friday, April 23, 2021, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Art was born on October 27, 1952 in Midland to Billy Gene Morton and Wanda Bonnie Leigh Morton, the eldest of their four children.
He attended Kerrville Tivy High School and San Angelo Central High School. He married Donna Marie Wallace on April 29, 1978. She preceded him in death in 1996.
Art was a long-haul truck driver, following in his Dad's footsteps. He loved his truck and was full of "trucker stories" which were always followed by his unending jokes. He loved children, constantly picking on them, and making them laugh. His last 6 years were a challenge after suffering a debilitating stroke, but he accepted his challenge head on with grace & dignity, choosing to be happy and make the best of his situation with a big smile on his face.
He is survived by his daughter, Scarlett Mendoza and husband Manuel; son, David Sharp; sister, Patricia Usery and husband Tommy; five brothers, Clarence Foley and wife Tarala, Chris Foley and wife Jennifer, Joe Don Morton and wife Sharon, Kelly Morton and wife Candace, Jackie Foley; and a sister-in-law, Tammie Foley; four granddaughters, Mayzee Mendoza, Zaylee Mendoza, Calista Gibson, and Kailyn Gibson; along with many nieces & nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. Art was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara McAda; brother, Robert Morton; stepfather, Wesley Foley; and stepmother, Donna Gray Morton.
We know that he is walking & talking with ease again, reunited with his beautiful Donna, his parents and all those loved ones that were waiting for him at the Pearly Gates with open arms. It's not goodbye, it's see ya later!
