BACILIO S. CORTEZ

Bacilio S. Cortez, 87, of San Angelo, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2005 in a local nursing home. Rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM, Friday, August 26, 2005 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 27, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Terry Brenon officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Bacilio was born May 30, 1918 to Manuel and Margarita Cortez. He served in the US Army during WWII and fought in the Luzon Campaign in the Philippines. Bacilio married Elvira Sanchez, August 31, 1941 in Wilson County. She preceded him in death on April 28, 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elvira. Survivors are: Sons:Leandro "Leon" Cortez and wife Glendora Of San Angelo George Cortez and wife, Sylvia Of Grandprairie Steve Cortez and wife, Janie Of San Antonio Daughters:Frances Roberson and husband, Jack Of Boyton Beach, FL Susie Fansler Of Schertz, TX Julia Underwood and husband, Bob Of San Angelo Sister:Angelita Sanchez Of Seguin, TX Fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Daniel Cortez, Eric Underwood, Sam Cortez, Joe Valdez, Robert Solis and Gus Sanchez.
