Barbara Joan Hollway Hubbartt, 77, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, April 25, 2010, in her San Angelo home with her daughter and son by her side. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Rose Garden beside Robert Massie Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Proctor of First Presbyterian Church and Randy Heffner officiating. Barbara was born on November 23, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the second of Ralph and Helen Hollway'™s four children. Her family moved to San Angelo when Barbara was young. She graduated from San Angelo High School and then attended San Angelo College, where she was Head Cheerleader in 1951/1952 and was crowned Rambouillet Queen. After living in several places across the U.S. and Europe, she returned to San Angelo in 1973 with her three children, Sherri, Kim, and Randy. After her first occupation and main focus as a homemaker was completed, she worked as a civil servant in the Accounting and Finance Office at Goodfellow AFB, retiring in 1992 after a position as Assistant Base Comptroller. She then joined her husband, Roy Hubbartt, who operated The Bait Box at Lake Nasworthy in San Angelo for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter, Kim Denise Heffner-Burton. She is survived by her daughter, Sherri Jones and husband Bill, of San Angelo; her son Randy Heffner and wife Nancy, of Dallas, Texas; her sister and brothers, Lou Ann Croy of Portland, Oregon, Ralph Hollway and wife Janis, of San Angelo, and Bob Hollway and wife Lexie, of San Angelo; her six grandchildren: Aaron Jones, Erika and Levi Heffner, and Steven, Daniel, and Anna Heffner; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special appreciation to Dr. Robert Prieto, Missy, and Gina and to family friend, Misty Carrillo, for their love and compassionate care of Mom. Friends are invited to join the family Friday evening, April 30th, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at The Courtyard downtown at 113 E. Concho. Barbara was loved by all of us that knew her, and she will be greatly missed. Barbara will be remembered for her generosity, strong will and spirit, and the endless cheerleading for her children and grandchildren. Thank you, Babo, you are the Wind beneath our Wings. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be sent to West Texas Boys Ranch, Sadie'™s Rescue, or Hospice of San Angelo.
