Beatrice "Doll" Riles, age 88 of San Angelo, Texas entered into the Gates of Heaven on February 15, 2021. Beatrice was the last of 12 children born to Larkin and Easter Powell on November 16, 1932, in Spur, Texas. She worked at Levi's Strauss and then Ethicon, retiring from there after many dedicated years of service. She was a devout Christian and longtime member of Antioch First Missionary Baptist Church; where she served and worshipped the Lord faithfully. She also was a member of the Northwest Lion's Club and always looked forward to the annual Pancake Breakfast community fundraiser.
Beatrice had many blessings in her life but she herself was also a blessing to many. She endlessly gave of herself to family, church and community. Humble, gracious, kind, patient and always slow to anger or judge, our family matriarch was often called upon for prayer, guidance, support and love. Her home was always open and welcoming to anyone who needed warm food, warm shelter or just a warm hug. Her endearing love for family and friends was unmatched, in fact, she was known to most people as "Aunt Bea". She cherished good fellowship, playing cards and she was always fashionable, elegant and classy. Another favorite pastime was traveling with the love of her life, her late husband, George Edward Riles whom she married in 1980.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents; her siblings: Lue Henry, Ida, Joe, Nogie, Arelia, Eleanor, Martha Ann, Margie Earl, Andrew James, Ardelia, and Dorothy; and her step-daughter, Janet Daniels.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, James Powell of San Angelo; her grandson, Damon Powell (Laticha); her step-grandchildren, Shawn Kirk (Dee), Danyel Daniels (Reggie) and Sparkle Johnson; her "adopted" daughter, Ella Argrow; her nieces, Babs Jarmon (Raymond) and Pennie Henderson; and her nephew, Jackie Henderson (Gwenn); her special friends, Susie Harris & Joyce Powell; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews.
Public viewing will be on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Robert Massie Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.
