Benito Gamez Cruz

Benito Gamez Cruz, 82, of San Angelo passed away on Friday, October 7, 2011 at a local nursing home. A Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Benito was born in Zaragosa, Coah., Mexico on April 14, 1929 to Benito and Juanita Gamez Cruz. Benito married Maria Alvara Casillas in May of 1985 here in San Angelo, where together they spent the next 26 years raising their family. He worked for the Mereta Co-Op Gin for over 40 years. Benito was preceded in death by two sisters; Santos Cruz, Angelita Cruz and four brothers; Pantalion Cruz, Beto Cruz, Atanacio Cruz and Jesus Cruz. Benito is survived by his wife, Maria Alvara Cruz, sons; Noe Cruz, Daniel Cruz, Francisco Cruz all of San Angelo; daughters; Graciela Cruz of San Angelo, Maria Estela Garcia of Coleman, Evangelina Cruz of San Angelo, step-daughters; Alma Pina, Rosie Pina-Narvaez, Olga Zapata, Maria Ignacia Zapata all of San Angelo, Rosalinda Vasquez of Muzquiz, Coah, Mexico, step-sons; Felix Antonio Pina and Felix Zapata both of San Angelo, sisters; Calletana Cruz of Zaragosa, Coah, Mexico and Virginia Cruz of San Angelo along with thirty-six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Noe Cruz, Danny Cruz, Francisco Cruz, Felix Cruz, Israel Cruz and Ismael Narvaez, he will also have two honorary pallbearers; Adam Mata and Juan Manuel Mata.
