Bertha D. Balkum

Bertha D. Balkum, 95, of San Angelo, passed away on January 23, 2015 at her residence. Viewing will be held Monday, January 26, 2015, from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at 1:00 pm at the Sherwood Cemetery with Rev. J. T. Tucker, officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Bertha was born on July 9, 1919 to William and Martha (Beyer) Dietz in Menard, TX. She graduated from High School in Menard. Bertha worked as a Dorm Charge for San Angelo State School in Carlsbad. She married Wilmer R. Balkum in San Angelo, Wilmer preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her father, William H Dietz, mother, Martha Dietz, husband, Wilmer R. Balkum, daughter, Emmie Word, granddaughter, Vickie Kuykendall, great-grandson, Lonnie Kuykendall, sister, Emmie Schibie and a brother, Albert Dietz. Bertha is survived by her son, F. W. "Bud" Word of San Angelo; great-grandson, Chuck and wife, Deanna Kuykendall of McKinney; grandson-in-law, Dewayne Kuykendall of Carlsbad, TX.
