BEVERLY JAMES PROBST

Beverly James Probst, 79, of San Angelo died Friday, November 23, 2007 at 3:14 AM at an area hospital from complications from smoking for 63 years. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 26, 2007 at Fairmount Cemetery with Pastor Roger Blocker of The Heights, officiating. Beverly was born March, 9 1928 in De Moines, Iowa to Virgil and Mildred James. She met her first husband, Ernest J. Hanus in Austin at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio where she taught ballroom dance for many years. Beverly and Ernest spent a lot of time with Margie and Dr. Ron Botkin along with Fay and Dr. Bill Campbell. She was a member of the Alamo Barracuda Scuba Diving Club where she and Margie Botkin skied behind a parade float on the San Antonio River on walking skis. Ernest J. Hanus passed away August 23, 1972. She met and later married, the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Logan Probst, on April 1, 1974. Together; they owned Sonora Heating and Air Conditioning. They retired to their country dream home, which Beverly designed the blueprints. Beverly and Bob enjoyed many happy years working together, fishing, boating, camping and socializing with friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Mildred James; husband and love of her life Bob Logan Probst; step-sister Jean Macki Wilson; Niece, Lynda Underwood and one of her best friends Faye Campbell Johnson. She is survived by her daughters, Laura Hanus of San Angelo, TX; Patti Jo Cantu and husband Rick Cantu of Lampasas, TX; sister, Elizabeth Florence "Betty James" Lawson of San Angelo, TX; Nieces, Sandy Lawson and Rhonda Lee of San Angelo; Nephews, Robert "Bobby" Lawson, Tracy Lawson and Ricky Lawson of San Angelo, TX; Numerous Grand nieces and nephews; Great-grandnieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Hazel Probst Jennings; best friends, Margie and Ron Botkin, Gerda Schoonover and Ruth Mulkey.
