Bill Don Wood

Bill D. Wood, 62, of San Angelo, Texas, died Saturday, May 7, 2011. Bill Don Wood was born March 16, 1949, to Bill D. Wood and Myrtle Frances (Jones) Wood in Plainview, Texas. He grew up in Bushland, Texas, and graduated from Tascosa High School, Amarillo, Texas, in 1967. Bill attended West Texas State University, Angelo State University, and the University of Texas at Arlington. He spent many years as a restaurant manager at Crystal Confectionary and Fuentes Café, San Angelo, and at Don Pablo's in Arlington. His heartfelt compassion for people and his charming personality endeared him to many in the hospitality industry. His parents, Bill D. Wood and Myrtle Frances (Jones) Wood Hall, and his stepfather, Dr. Richard M. Hall, preceded him in death. He is survived by a sister, Nina Wood Drake and husband, Dr. Ed Drake, of Estes Park, CO; five brothers and their wives: Grover and Kit Hall, Eden, TX; Louis and Rachel Hall, Bangs, TX; Dr. Charles and Donna Hall, Bangs, TX; Keith Hall, Eden, TX; and Dr. Doug and Trixie Hall, Austin, TX, and many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his former wife and close friend, Dawn Jones, of San Angelo and longtime friends Trini Ybarra of Carrolton and Keith Freshly of Addison. Bill considered the young men and women who worked in his restaurants his "children." He leaves his beloved pets, Katie and Maggie. At Bill's request, no service will be held and his ashes will be scattered on the mountaintops of Rocky Mountain National Park. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Donations may be made in his memory to a favorite charity. Many will miss Bill's charm, intelligence, compassion, and wit. May he rest in peace.
