Billie Gean Chisum

Billie Gean Chisum passed away May 11, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born March 22, 1932 to Willie E & Maudie V Burleson in Tennyson, TX. During her childhood years she attended the Tennyson Baptist Church where she was baptized; later attending Lake View Baptist Church after moving to San Angelo. In April 1951 she married William J Storey and they were blessed with four children: Mark, Eugene "Geno", Richard and Bernadette "Bunny". As a military family they were stationed in Okinawa, California, Idaho, Ohio and Texas. After retirement from the military they settled back in San Angelo. Billie stayed at home until her last child reached school age, then she began a career as a civilian employee at Goodfellow Air Force Base. She worked there many years retiring in the late 80's. Later she began a second career working at Texas A & M Research Center working for Dr. Maurice Shelton and Dr. Chris Lupton. After retiring a second time she worked for the writer Elmer Kelton proofing and typing manuscripts. She had every book he wrote and he personally autographed each one. She also sold Mary Kay Cosmetics for many years. Billie loved to read, cook for large family gatherings and was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed traveling and loved history. We never took a trip without stopping at every historical marker and museum along the way. Surviving are her sister, Louise Green of Circle, MT; children Richard and Bernadette (Bunny); grandchildren: Jeremiah Storey, Amanda Brady, Jessica Baker and husband, Jake and Jason Storey; great children Jonah and Delilah. Also sister in laws Sue Crow and Betty Burleson and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Billie was pre-deceased by her husband William J Storey and two sons Mark and Gene. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Dawn Gonzales, the staff of New Haven Assisted Living/Memory Care Center and Kindred Hospice for the loving care they provided over the last 3 ½ years. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a favorite charity of choice. A family visitation will be at Robert Massie Funeral Home Friday, May 13th from 5 to 7 pm and graveside services will be at Mule Creek Cemetery in Coke County at 10:00 am Saturday May 13th.
