it is with deep love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Bobbie Jean Kelly, 87, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in Alexandria, Virginia. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, teacher, mentor, and pillar of her community.

Mrs. Kelly was born on September 24, 1937, in San Antonio. Bobbie Jean dedicated her life to education, shaping young minds as a teacher and mentor. She extended her passion beyond the classroom, serving as a summer track coach and playing an active role in the Blackshear Reunion Committee. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she was honored to serve as Mother of the Church at Greater Refuge Ministries in Clinton, MD, where she was a source of wisdom, strength, and love.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nathaniel Henry Kelly, Sr., as well as her children, Nathaniel Kelly, Jr., and John Melvin Kelly, and her siblings, Doris Wade and Helen Owens.

Bobbie Jean leaves behind a loving family, including her children, Freddie Kelly, Jeffery Kelly, and Lori Kelly, and her siblings, Mae Clark and Carl Wade. She is also survived by a host of family members, including grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry her love and legacy forward.

A viewing will be held in Clinton, Maryland Friday, February 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Lee Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Maryland.

Her funeral service will take place on 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel in San Angelo, Texas. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Bobbie Jean Kelly will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her light and love will continue to shine through those she touched.
