Carl Linneman Hansen

Longtime San Angelo resident Carl Linneman Hansen, 85, passed away on April 23, 2020 at home with his family. Carl was born April 29th, 1934, in Monte Vista, Colo. to Anna Laurine (Lauritsen) and Henrik Linnemann Hansen. Carl enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953 and served in Greenland refueling aircraft during the Korean War. In 1974, Carl married Ingrid Benson who remained his loving wife until his passing. In 1978, they had a son, Joshua. In 1982 Carl and his friends Andy Anderson and Vernon McKinney started a non-profit thrift store called Christians In Action (CIA) whose mission was to assure that all members of the community had food, clothing, and shelter. For the next thirty years he devoted his life to assisting the needy and unfortunate within the Concho Valley. A devout Lutheran and prolific reader, he spent most of his free time reading the bible and Christian texts. After retiring in 2012, he spent the remainder of his years at home with his family. An incredibly loving husband, father, and grandfather, Carl will be greatly missed. Carl is survived by his wife Ingrid Hansen; his son Joshua Hansen; his granddaughter Lolita Burke; his granddaughter Chloe, his granddaughter Mazarene; his grandson Philo and his sister Elisabeth McCary of San Diego, Calif., along with numerous nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his brother Ernest; his sister Naomi; his brother Kenneth and his parents. His wife would like to thank the staff of Hospice of San Angelo (HOSA); Dr. Gary A. Nussey, Dr. Wael Richeh and the staff of Shannon Medical Center and Encompass Home Health for their loving care and concern for Carl. Thank you to dear friends G.E. and Andrew Taylor for your friendship and love. Thanks to Hollie Bryan for all you did for Carl in his final years, the cooking and cleaning and running errands. A special thank you to Curtis Wyman, a neighbor who would always check in on him to make sure he was doing okay. He will be buried in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, TX. Due to Covid-19 there will be no in-person service at this time, but a celebration service will be arranged at a later date. Flowers and cards can be sent to 1117 Wynne Ave, San Angelo, TX 76905
