CAROLE BADGER

Carole McDonald Badger of San Angelo passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at her home after a brave and courageous fight with cancer. She was born January 5, 1938 in Pecos County, Texas to Roy McDonald and Ruby Kate Acton. She lived at Crystal Waters Ranch and Fort Stockton before moving to San Angelo in the 1950's. She graduated in 1956 from Central High School. In 1958 she graduated from Stephens College, Missouri and went on to attend Peabody College, Tennessee. Carole was married to Marion D. Badger from 1961 until 1980. She was a library assistant at various times throughout her life including Tom Green County Library in the children's collection. She was also known as the "animal lady" to the preschoolers at Sandcastle Preschool. Carole enjoyed reading, sewing, embroidery work, and researching family genealogy. She was an inspiration to us all and will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by daughter Gera Chestnutt and her husband Ivan,and grandchildren Mary and Kimberly; daughter Margaret Drake and grandchildren Meaghan, Amanda Garrett, and great-granddaughter Avery; son Marion Badger and his wife Barbara, and grandchildren Charlie, Michael, and Robert (R.T.); and daughter Allison Crofton and her husband Chris, and grandchild Ashlyn. Family Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, November 3rd at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 2:00pm on Wednesday, November 4th at Fairmont Cemetery with the Rev. Allan Conkling of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, officiating. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the American Cancer Society. Carole's family wishes to thank her friend and neighbor, Jane Deignan, Hospice of San Angelo, the Angel Care nurses, and the nurses of the Regional Cancer Treatment Center for their care and support.
