Carolyn Yates Dressler

Carolyn Yates Dressler passed from this world on June 16, 2015, at 5:30 A.M. She was born Mattie Carolyn Yates on March 12, 1936, to Dewey M. and Mattie K. Yates in Christoval, Texas. The family soon moved to Eden, Texas. She made many lifelong friends and fond memories while attending school there. After marrying and having two children, she lived in several different cities eventually settling back in Christoval. She then moved to San Angelo due to health conditions. After cardiac by-pass surgery in the late 80's the healthcare providers informed her she might live another 10 years, if she did everything they advised. Of course, Carolyn did not do anything they suggested and lived another 30 years, proving them wrong just for spite. Carolyn loved to cook and would often invite "half the town" over for a meal. Her favorite part was hearing the guests brag about her cooking afterwards. She was famous for her peach cobbler. She also enjoyed many hours with her friends and grandchildren playing cards. Carolyn was raised a Christian and a member of the Church of Christ in Christoval and later at Southgate. We are very grateful to Johnson Street Church of Christ for bringing her Sunday communion these last few weeks. She was preceded in death by: her parents, her brother James D. Yates, a very special nephew Harold W. Yates and her stepfather W.H. Crosswhite. Survivors include: her brother Harold C. Yates and wife Elke, sister-in-law Mildred Yates, her daughter Carol Dressler Mata and husband Ruben, her son Lee D. Dressler and wife Connie. Her grandchildren: Trina Kay Barr and husband Adam, Shawnda Clifton, John Dressler and wife Caitlin, and Bryan Dressler and Baylea. Her great-grandchildren: Austin Clifton and Cash Holland. She is also survived by several nieces. At Carolyn's request there is no funeral. Her remains will be placed at the Christoval Cemetery in our family plot at a private family service at a later date. The family wishes to thank Veronica Carrillo from Girling and Pam and the other wonderful folks at Hospice of San Angelo.
