Catarino Lora Ibarra, 93, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 17, 2021, surrounded by family.
Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the Rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM Friday, August 20, 2021, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 21, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Lopez-Cortez, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Catarino was born February 22, 1928 in Zimapan Hgo Mexico. Catarino married the love of his life, Concepcion "Conchita" Ramirez whom he would spend the next 68 years with. She preceded him in death on February 7, 2020. He has been a resident of San Angelo since 1964. Catarino was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a rancher and his later years employed by the City of San Angelo in the Street and Bridge Department for eight years retiring in 1992.
Catarino loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and gardening.
Survivors include his son, Luis Ibarra, Sr. and wife Norma of San Angelo; two daughters, Irma Gonzales and husband Emilio of San Angelo and Lily Valdez of Pflugerville; two sisters, Catarina Ibarra of Mexico and Venancia Labra of California; five grandchildren, Liza, Luis, Jr. and wife Adriana, Amanda and partner Amber, Monica and husband Lazaro, and Ian; seven great grandchildren, Esperanza, Isaiah, Isabella, Andres, Kylie, A.J., and Liana; two great-great grandchildren, Nova, and Esiah; and he leaves behind many nephews and nieces. Catarino was preceded in death by his parents, Sofio and Ambrosia Ibarra; two brothers, German Ibarra from Idaho, and Juan Ibarra from Illinois; and his son-in-law, Freddie M. Valdez.
