Charles R. 'œRichie' Owen unexpectedly left this earth on Friday, October 16, 2009. He was met at Heaven'™s gates by his Dad & Mom '" Dick and Lena Owen, his wife Cindy Brooks Owen and many other family members & friends. He spent his early years traveling around the U.S.A working for W.D. Moreland Contracting. After he moved back to San Angelo he worked for Voyles Construction, Todd Whitley Construction, Gary'™s Custom Cabinet and most recently Bunyard Hasty Electric. Whether Richie was working in air conditioning, carpentry or learning the electrical business, he was known as a hard working, dependable, reliable employee. Richie loved the outdoors. He loved to fish and hunt but most of all he loved to go to Rendezvous'™. He and his Rendezvous family would go to remote areas set up their lodges (in Richie'™s case, a teepee) and spend a few days living the way people lived in the 1800'™s. Richie loved his rendezvous weekends and ALL his Rendezvous family. Now he'™s gone to the BIG Rendezvous. Richie is survived by his sons Richard Dean 'Ricky' Owen of Garland and Roy Jackson Owen of San Angelo; a daughter Allison Jett of Tennessee and son Kevin Minke of Dallas; grandchildren Bryson and Kaylyn Owen of San Angelo. Also surviving him is his friend and companion Jeri Blaylock of Junction and all of her family whom he considered his own, his sisters and their spouses Kathy Martinez and Martin Perez and Lisa & Butch Hasty all of San Angelo and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Last but certainly not least he will be dearly missed by his faithful dogs Jelly & Blue. Richie loved each of you deeply even though he might not have said it often. His theory was: 'œI already told you I loved you once; if anything changes I'™ll let you know'. Family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2009 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Lakeview Baptist Church with Pastor Brad Winchester officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. His pallbearers will be Butch Ayers, Johnny Hawkins, Jr., Donnie Whittenberg, Nic Martinez, Ruben Hernandez and Junior Powell. Honorary pallbearers will be his Rendezvous family. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Ft. Chadbourne Foundation or the charity of your choice. Richie, our Thanksgiving & Christmas dressing will never be the same. We Love you and we'™ll see you soon.
