Concepcion Mendez

Concepcion R. Mendez (Nono), 83, of San Angelo, passed away on Friday October 20, 2017 at a local care center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 28, 1934 to Manuel and Sidelia (Rodriguez) Mendez in Del Rio, TX. Concepcion worked for Texas Tank Car Works and later he had his own company, Mendez Roofing. He married Rufina Lucio on November 24, 1953 in San Angelo. They enjoyed 52 wonderful years together until her passing on October 31, 2005. He enjoyed cooking for his family. After the passing of his wife, he enjoyed eating at La Esperanza and meeting his many friends there. Spending time with his family and his grandchildren were important to him. Pallbearers are Lenard Anthony Hernandez, C. J. Mendez, Barnabe Mendez, Jeremiah Sosa, Isaiah Traverzo and Joe Angel Mendez. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a son, Oscar Mendez and his sister, Pabla Mendez. Concepcion is survived by his loving children, Ramiro (Natalia) Mendez, Diana (Leonard) Hernandez, Alma (Robert) De La Rosa, Barney (Margaret) Mendez, Armandina "Mandy" (Richard) Sosa, Amalia Mendez, Amelia (David) Talamantez, Concepcion (JoElla) Mendez, Jr., brother, Alonso "Haricol" (Rosa) Mendez, 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; special niece Mary Ellen Lopez and nephew, Fernando (Nellie) Mendez. Viewing is 10:00am to 8:00pm with prayer service at 7:00pm on Tuesday October 24, 2017 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Funeral services are 10:00am Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel, with daughter, Diana Hernandez, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family wants to thank 5th floor nurses and staff at Shannon Medical Center for the excellent care given to our father.
