Creta Mae Lott Voyles went to Heaven on Saturday, February 25, 2023, after living a long, blessed life.
She was born in Decatur, Alabama on April 12, 1933 to John Emery and Ara Vivian Owens Lott. Creta married Willie Dean Voyles on October 22, 1950 in Childress. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2007. Creta has been a resident of San Angelo since 1958. She worked for BW Merchandise, and M System. Creta owned and operated The River Bank in Paint Rock, she also did the bookkeeping for Willie at Voyles Construction Company. Willie and Creta were charter members of Johnson Street Church of Christ where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. Creta ministered in the Jail Ministry in Tom Green County. She loved painting, knitting, and crocheting. Creta was a very artistic lady.
Survivors include her two daughters, Ara Mae "Punkin" Voyles Harris and husband Lee, and Vivian "Vicki" Willean Voyles Sedden and husband Mark; four grandchildren that called her "Mam-Maw", Creta Sheree Burns Hardin and husband BC, William Dean Burns and wife Becca, Richard "Ricky" Dean Owen, and Roy Jackson Owen and wife Lisa; seven great grandchildren that called her "GG"; and two sisters, Ellen Lott Graham and husband Jimmy, and June Lott Tigert Bassett husband Jack "Art"; and numerous nieces, and nephews that called her "Aunt Creta"; and many others call her "Sister" or "Friend." Creta was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Johnnie Lee Lott.
Everyone who knew Creta knew how much she loved the Lord and loved to share His Word with others. One of many verses that she took to heart was Ecclesiastes 12:13, "After all of this, there is only one thing to say: Have reverence for God, and obey His commands, because this is all that man was created for." (Today's English Version)
A celebration of Creta's life graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Childress Cemetery in Childress, Texas with Mr. David Ensminger, a family friend, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home in San Angelo.
The family would like to thank Concho Hearts Hospice for their heartfelt love, kindness, and care for Creta and her family.
