Cruz "Muttsie" Morua, 81, of San Angelo passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at her residence. Rosary will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Joey Faylona officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Cruz was born on November 24, 1932 in Brighton, CO to John and Josephine Martinez. She married Nicolas Morua in January of 1950 in San Angelo. Nicolas preceded her in death on May 9, 2009. Cruz and Nicolas lived their entire married life in San Angelo. Cruz was affectionately known as "Muttsie" by her family and friends. Before retiring, Cruz was employed by SAISD. Cruz was a very active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she belonged to the St. Vicente Prayer Group. She was also a member of TOPS Chapter 201 where she provided inspiration to many of its members. Cruz will always be remembered for her wonderful meals, desserts and her capacity to share with anyone who came to her home. Cruz always had a pot of coffee ready to share with whoever stopped by for a visit. Cruz's interests included walking, gardening and crocheting blankets for all her grandchildren. Muttsie was an inspiration to all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Cruz is survived by her Daughter, Josie (Frank) Soto of San Angelo; Son, Nicolas M. (Robin LaCasse) Morua of Westminster, CA; Daughter, Angie Ortegon of San Angelo; Son, Greg M. (Velma) Morua of San Angelo; Brother, Manuel Perez of Lafayette, CO; Sister, Cora Valdez of Denver, CO; Sister, Ruth Valdez of Denver, CO; Brother, John V (Dora) Martinez of Lochbuie, CO; Brother, Mike Martinez of Fort Lupton, CO; Grandson, James (Adriana) Soto of Haltom City, TX; Grandson, John (Jana) Soto of Lubbock; Granddaughter, April Ortegon of San Antonio; Granddaughter, Crystal Ortegon of San Angelo; Granddaughter, Cassie (Carlos Rosales) Morua of Round Rock; Granddaughter, Carla Morua of Dallas; Grandson, Christopher Adam (Karla Cardenas) Morua of San Angelo; Granddaughter, Chelsea Renee Morua of San Angelo; seven Great-grandchildren and one Great-great-granddaughter along with numerous nieces and nephews.
