Jean (Jeanie) Driskill was born January 24, 1935, at Zephyr in Brown Co., and passed away on Thursday, February 12, in Lubbock. She is survived by three sons: Tom Hoes and wife Leigh, of Garland, Don Hoes, of San Angelo, and Jay Hoes and wife Ronda, of Lubbock. Two daughters also graced her life: Julie Drainer and husband Tony, of Odessa, and Amber Broderick, of Brazoria. She also had six granddaughters, two grandsons, and six great-grandchildren. Her brothers Jolly and wife Sammye Driskill, of Buffalo Gap, and Modie and wife Helen Driskill, of Angleton, and a sister Mary Lou and husband Jay Sponable, of Brazoria also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, W. Jess and Edna Jolly Driskill, two sisters, June Stanford and Wanda Fullwood, and one brother, Bob Driskill. As the daughter of a working cowboy, Jeanie and her family moved often from ranch to ranch. She worked for and retired from General Telephone Company, now Verizon, and lived in San Angelo most of her life. She has resided in Lubbock for the last 8 years. Jeanie will be remembered as a seamstress, baker, doll maker, antique collector, friend, and most of all, mother and grandmother. She was known to be late for most events in her life; we wish she could have been late for this one.
