Deborah Janet Cornevin

Deborah Janet Cornevin, 57, of Spring, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 in Spring. Visitation will be on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Sanderson Cemetery with the Pastor Bob Welch of First Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Robert Massie funeral home. Deborah was born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany to William H. Batten and Annie Christmann on June 7th, 1957. She grew up as an Army brat, living in Georgia, South Carolina, and Texas. She married Bruce W. Cornevin on May 12th, 1979 in Arlington, Texas, and the couple resided overseas in Scotland before moving back to the states, eventually settling in Crowley, Texas. Deborah, a homemaker, free spirit, and lifelong devoted mother to her only child Crystalynn Nicole Cornevin, enjoyed a passion for travel and new adventures. Always one for a good treasure hunt, Deborah also owned several antique businesses in New Braunfels, San Marcos, and San Angelo, Texas. Deborah was also highly devoted to advocacy for the elderly, helping to give a voice to nursing home residents, which eventually led to her testifying before the Texas State Senate and the passage of a bill regarding informed consent for nursing home residents. Deborah Cornevin is preceded in death by her beloved grandmother Sophie Louise Christmann, as well as her great aunt and several great uncles. Deborah is survived by her husband, Bruce Cornevin, daughter Crystalynn Nicole Cornevin and partner Cindy Kelleher, brother William M. Batten and spouse Michele Batten, nephew Brandon Batten, father William H. Batten and partner Michael Black, mother Annie Word and spouse Albert Word, Great aunt Anita Fisher, and cousins Bobby Lee Fisher and Suzy Von Rohr, as well as many other loving relatives, and her four-legged grandchildren Princess the cat and Stella Grace the weenie dog.
