Demetrio Liserio Zapata, 78, went to be with his Lord surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, TX. Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM, Friday, December 7, 2007 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 8, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father David Herrera officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Demetrio began this life's journey on December 22, 1928 in Poth, Texas to Macario and Jesusita Liserio Zapata. He unconditionally dedicated his amazing life to his family, friends, and loved ones. Antonia Canava and Demetrio shared wedding vows on May 5, 1947 in San Angelo, enjoying 60 wonderful and blessed years together. They are faithful members of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Zapata, two brothers and two sisters. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and dedicated wife, Antonia Zapata; four daughters, Lupe Rangel and her husband, Art; Yolanda Garza and her husband, Marciano; Mary Ellen Zapata; Diana Cantu and her husband, Ralph; one brother, Antonio Zapata and his wife, Mary, and one sister, Loy Rios and her husband, Trinidad, all of San Angelo. His grandchildren are; David Zapata and his wife, Sylvia; Dolores Zapata, Elijah Zapata, Anna Howard, Luigi Gallicchio, Marciano Garza III and his wife, Tommie; Bianca Rangel, Elizabeth Perez and her husband, Robert; Andree Garza, Angelica Zapata, Jacob Rangel, Michael Garza, and Arianna Cantu. Great-Grandchildren are: Natalie and Jasmine Booker, Selena Zapata, Dominic and Monica Mitchell, and Alexis Gerhardt, all of San Angelo. Pallbearers will be Marciano Garza Jr., David Zapata, Luigi Gallicchio, Jacob Rangel, Art Rangel, Ralph Cantu, and Michael Garza. The Zapata family wishes to thank Dr. Duarte and his staff, the Dialysis Unit at Shannon St. John's Campus and the Shannon Medical Center ICU, and Shannon's 5th Floor staff for the wonderful care given to our Dad and Grandpa.
