Dennis McDaniel, 63, of San Angelo, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Dallas Methodist Hospital following a lengthy illness. Dennis was born July 9, 1946, in Iraan, Tx. to Zelma and W.C. McDaniel. He attended elementary schools in Wall, Christoval and San Angelo and graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1964. He went on to receive a BBA from The University of Texas at Austin ('™69). He began his professional career as a regional director for the Heart Association but soon returned to the oilfields of his youth. A third-generation pumper, he owned and operated McDaniel Pumping Service, taking care of oil wells in Tom Green and Irion counties for 35 years. He loved working outdoors everyday and watching the seasons change. He was a very dedicated man, and well liked by his customers. Dennis was so many things to those of us who loved him. He was a very spiritual person who looked for God in all things. He was a musician and artist who enjoyed creative endeavor and the beauty of life. He was a great teacher as well as an eager student who loved learning. He was a loyal and trusted friend. He will be remembered and missed for his humor, wise council, and deep compassion. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Restland Cemetery in Iraan, Texas. Survivors include parents Mary Lou and W.C. McDaniel of San Angelo; his devoted wife Susan; his three sons, Mark Ian and wife Kristen of Denver, Co.; William Matthew and wife Amy of Mertzon; Christopher Michael and wife Arianne of Austin. Daughters, Jennifer Dzik and husband Michael of Chattanooga, Tn. and Sara Kushner and husband Max of San Antonio, Tx.; Dixie Sue McAda and husband, Jim Bob of San Angelo; grandchildren Will, Declan, Alexa, Ellery, Rachel, Rebecca and Lilly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Zelma and grandson Stephen Kushner.
