Dixie Harrell Hayre

Dixie Hayre, 96 died Saturday December 1, 2012 in San Angelo, Texas. Graveside services will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Sanderson, Texas at 9:30 AM on Thursday December 6, 2012 with Johnny Perkins of Ozona Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. She was born December 6, 1916 to Jesse Harper Harrell and Sally Davis Harrell. Dixie graduated from Waelder High School in 1934 as salutatorian and with perfect attendance for the four years. In 1938 she received a BS degree from Southwest Texas State Teacher's College in San Marcos, Texas. On July 18, 1940 she and John "Jack" Hayre were married. They had one son, Thomas Mark "Tommy" Hayre. Dixie taught school for 36 years in Asherton, Ranger, and Sanderson, Texas. She also taught school in Vallejo and Oceanside, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and husband. Dixie is survived by her son Tommy Hayre and his wife Lellee Hayre, three granddaughters Susan Lynne Hayre, Luci Marie Harter and Spouse Terry Harter, and Misty Lane Davenport and spouse Jason Davenport and five great grandchildren Robert, Andie and Stella Harter and Luke and Lane Davenport. The family of Dixie Hayre wishes to extend our sincere thanks Meadow Creek Nursing Home, Lighthouse Hospice and especially to Jo Ellwood for her special care of Dixie.
