Dolores H. Ramirez, 92, of San Angelo, passed away on Thursday December 28, 2017. She was born on December 14, 1925 to Manuel and Catalina (Ortiz) Hernandez in San Angelo, TX. On May 18, 1950, she married Raymundo Ramirez. They were happily married for 37 years until his passing in 1987 In 1945, Dolores graduated from San Angelo High School and entered Shannon School of Nursing and in 1950 was the first Hispanic to graduate, leading the way for future students. Dolores worked as an RN for Shannon for many years and in 1964 started to work with the Texas State Health Department until her retirement in 1986. In January of 1989, she joined the Peace Corp and was assigned to Paraguay and worked for three rewarding years, where she eventually started her own clinic. Other accomplishments of hers were, Past Secretary of St. Joseph Parish Council, Past Grand Regent of Catholic Daughters of America, Past President of San Angelo Deanery Council of Catholic Women, Past Vice Present of Shannon Alumni Association. She was on the following boards; American Heart Association, San Angelo Day Nursery, Alcoholics Anonymous, Tuberculosis Association. She volunteered at the Crisis Intervention, Salvation Army and Shannon Hospital Volunteers where she actively worked up until Tuesday. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, sisters, Isabel Torres and Manuela Munoz, brother, Inez Hernandez. Dolores is survived by her loving daughter, Rita Holguin, nieces and nephews; Dan (Alice) Torres, Amelia (Jesse) Meza, David (Elosia) Torres, Margaret Amaya, Raymond (Sally) Torres, Gilbert Torres, Rachel Trejo, Joe Torres, John (Marivel) Torres, Steve (Rosa) Torres, Terry (Adrian) Rodriguez, Anita (Juan) Leal, Vincent (Terri) Munoz, Manuel Munoz, Freddy Munoz, Joe (Gracie) Munoz, Terry Munoz, Kathy Munoz and Henry (Josie) Munoz, and special nieces; Melissa "Millie" Holguin, Monica Holguin and Mackenzie Holguin. Pallbearers will be her great nephews. Rosary will be 7:00pm Tuesday January 2, 2017 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00am Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Emilio Sosa, officiating. Burial will take place in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
