Domingo Carrejo López, (El Leñero), 80, of San Angelo, TX, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, at the Senior Care Center of Meadow Creek in San Angelo, Texas surrounded by his family. He was born to Herman and Filomena López on July 18, 1937 in Weslaco, TX. He grew up in Wilson, AR where he attended and played football during his high school years. He had been recruited to play football for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks but he chose a different path. Domingo was employed by West Texas Utilities during his early years, he then began to work in masonry. During most of his life, Domingo was a skilled brick mason, several homes and businesses in San Angelo and around Texas were built by him and his team of workers. He is survived by his former-wife, Belia A. Benitez of San Angelo, TX, the mother of their five children. The children left to cherish his memory are as follows: son, Rev. Edward A. Lopez of San Angelo, TX; daughter, Sylvia L. Bauchman and husband (Gary) of New Rochelle, New York; daughter, Nelda L. Garcia and husband (David) of Austin, TX; son, Robert A. Lopez and wife (Sylvia) of San Angelo, TX; daughter, Brenda L. Izaguirre and husband (Honorable Edgar) of Austin, TX. He had five grandchildren: Dr. Alyson Garcia, M.D. and husband (Robert Dax Brannan) of Austin, TX; Kristopher R. Lopez and wife (Jordan) of Dallas, TX; Caleb Garcia and wife (Hadley) of Vermont; Anyssa Moya-Lopez of San Angelo, TX; Alex Moya-Lopez of San Angelo, TX and one great-grandson, Titus Dax Brannan of Austin, TX. Domingo is also survived by his aunt, Margarita Muñiz and several nieces and nephews. There will be a private family viewing only, no further services will be held.
