Dora Rivera, 70, of San Angelo passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022, at her home surrounded by family.

Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 10, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Deacon Abel Fernandez, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rivera was born March 8, 1951, in Del Rio, Texas, and graduated from Angelo State University in 1977. She married Marcos Rivera Sr. on March 31, 1969, in Del Rio. Mrs. Rivera was an elementary bilingual school teacher for over 30 years at San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District (Garfield Elementary) and San Angelo Independent School District (Belaire Elementary). She touched so many lives throughout her career and remembered her students fondly. Mrs. Rivera retired in December of 2018. In retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family traveling the country with them.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, Felix Guanajuato Sr. and Amelia Talamantez Guanajuato, and her nephew John David Acevedo.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Marcos; her son Mark Rivera Jr. and wife Lena of San Angelo; her daughter Christie Saenz and husband William of San Antonio; four grandchildren, Andrea Rivera, Emily Saenz, Leah Rivera, and Nathan Saenz; her sisters, Mary Maldonado, and Christina Hill and husband Adolfo; her brothers, Jose Angel Guanajuato, and Felix Guanajuato, Jr. and wife Mary; her nieces Sandra Hernandez and husband Artemio; Adriana Hill Benavidez and husband Michael, Luvina Guanajuato Thomas and husband Andrew, Angelyn Guanajuato Telles and husband David, Jessica Guanajuato, Salyna Guanajuato Galvan and husband Fred, and Monica Hernandez Bell and husband Charles; her nephews Manuel Cervantes and wife Deyanira, Felix Guanajuato III and wife Yvonne, Gabriel Hill and wife Corri.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Sister Christina Hill for her care, love, and affection for Dora. Christina provided emotional and physical support for the past six years as Dora fought bravely to overcome breast and brain cancer.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Mark Rivera, William Saenz, Gabriel Hill, Manuel Cervantes, Felix Guanajuato III, and Nathan Saenz.
