Douglas Joshua Henderson, 77, of San Angelo passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Val Verde Regional Hospital in Del Rio. Douglas was born on April 13, 1933 in San Angelo to George and Genevieve (Beede) Henderson. He was a graduate with an honors degree in Pure Mathematics, University of Texas at Austin in 1955. He was a geophysicist in the oil industry and worked for Gulf Oil, Phillips Petroleum, Exxon, Shell, and others. His work carried him to North Africa, (Libya and Algeria) and South America (Venezuela), Europe (Paris). He evaluated seismic information from here in America, and also Turkey and India. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and had docked once in Cuba. He was a world class fencer and went to Olympic trails for Epee, Saber, and Rapier. He was a wonderful son and devoted brother who took care of his family. Then neatest uncle, loved, and admired by his nieces, nephews, and the best friend that a person could have. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Chaplain Jim Benson officiating. Entombment will follow after the service. Survivors include his brother, George G. Henderson, Jr. of Fredericksburg; and a sister, Elaine Henderson of Pomfret Center, Connecticut; nephews, George M. Henderson; William D. Henderson; Perry E. Henderson; Patrick W. Henderson; and Troy Doile; nieces, Cynthia Bastek and Karen D'™Angelo. There are 11 great nephews, 7 great nieces, and 2 great-great nieces, and 1 great-great nephew.
