EDWIN C. DORRIS

Edwin C. Dorris, 98, died in his sleep Saturday, May 12, 2007. He was born October 3, 1908, in Iowa Park, Texas. There will be visitation at Robert Massie Funeral home Sunday, May 13, 2007, from 5-7pm. Graveside services will be held Monday, May 14, 2007, at 11am, at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, with Reverend Larry Shotwell of First Baptist Church officiating. Ed is survived by four children, Richard Dorris, San Angelo, TX, Dr. Robert Dorris, North Zulch, TX, Dave Dorris, Tyler, TX, and Patricia Richey, Dallas, TX. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Dorris, and two sisters. His life career started in the wheat fields of North Texas to help support his family. He then joined the Coast Guard for two years. After leaving the Coast Guard, he became a motorcycle policeman with the DPS. Finding that he really enjoyed laws enforcement, he put in an application with the FBI. Of course, this became his true career. Ed was a kidnapping expert, firearms expert, and range instructor during the 30 years he was a special agent. During his time with the FBI, he and his family lived in Nashville, Seattle, El Paso, New Orleans, Abilene, Dallas, Lubbock, and finally retired in San Angelo. Ed said that "this was the greatest group of men he felt privileged to serve with". Ed was a member of the ex-FBI Agents Association and the First Baptist Church. We would like to thank Royal Estates, Legend Oaks, and Shannon Hospital for their professional, loving care they offered our father and grandfather in the final years he spent on this earth. We know he is enjoying fishing with all of his friends with the God he truly loved.
