Edwin Lee Maxwell, Sr., 90, of San Angelo died Wednesday July 19, 2017 in San Angelo, Texas. Born in San Saba, Texas to Ida Lucy (Ripple) and Marcus M. Maxwell on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1927, Edwin was a high school graduate, a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, and a printer by trade. Edwin and Eunice (Bratt) Maxwell have been married for 69 years. They wed on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1948, coincidentally his twenty-first birthday, in San Saba, Texas. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; and four brothers. Surviving Edwin are his wife of 69 years, Eunice Maxwell; daughter, Chris Russell of Miles, Texas; and sons, Ed Maxwell, Jr. of San Angelo, Texas, and Boyd Maxwell of Luling, Texas. Also surviving are his five grandchildren: Nicole Schwertner of Rowena, Texas; Rick Russell, Jr. of Miles, Texas; Wesley Russell of San Angelo, Texas; Merritt Grogan of Luling, Texas; and Shane Maxwell of New Braunfels, Texas; along with his eight great-grandchildren: Sutton Schwertner, Brody Schwertner, Rachel Russell, Corley Russell, Lane Russell, Bryce Grogan, Preslee Grogan, and Belle Grogan. Additionally, Edwin also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A private inurnment for family and friends is planned, 10:00am Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Harriett Cemetery, Harriett, Texas under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
