She had been married to Julian Hernandez for 16 years of her life and they both continued to support each other over the years. Elaine was a woman of faith and believed in the power of prayer. When situations seemed impossible, she was always provided with what was needed and came out on top. She was a very strong-willed woman, even until the very end. Elaine loved to spend time with her family. Her favorite things were collecting cookie jars, playing Mexican bingo and cooking for everyone. No one went hungry in her house and she always gave the last of anything she had. She was also the all-time babysitter for her many grandchildren. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents Prudencio and Maria, her sisters Janelle Guzman Luna, Julia Guzman Espinosa and Irene Guzman Carrillo, and her brothers, Prudencio ‘Pete' Guzman and Robert ‘Bobby' Guzman. She is survived by her children, Maxine Hernandez Cadena and husband Hector, Linda Hernandez, Julian Hernandez and Teddy Hernandez and wife, Shelly, her sisters, Norma Martinez and husband Frank, Teresa Flores and husband Edward, her brothers, Arnold ‘Red' Guzman and wife Virginia of Bronte and Frank Guzman and wife Florence, 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A special thank you to the staff at Cedar Manor Nursing Home for providing the compassionate care to Elaine over the past month and who have become like family.
