EMILIO S. CORTEZ

Emilio S. Cortez, 65, of San Angelo, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2004 in a local hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Sacred Heart Cathedral with Father Maurice Voity officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Emilio was born April 3, 1939 in Nixon, TX to Esteban and Rafela Cortez. He worked 23 years for Armour and Company and 20 years for A-Plus/TRECO. Emilio was always smiling, even if his days at work had been long and hard, he knew once he entered the front door to home, all was well worth it. His great joy was spending time with his wife, children and especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Emilio has entered the door to our Heaven's above now, and knowing he continues to smile, gives his loved ones peace in their hearts. He is preceded in death by his parents Esteban and Rafela Cortez and a sister, Amelia Martinez. Survivors are: Wife:Guadalupe Cortez of San Angelo Four Daughters: Sylvia Diaz and husband, Albert of San Antonio Linda Cortez Talamantez of San AngeloDiane Herrera and husband, Rick of White Sands, NM Brenda Cortez of San Angelo Two Sons:Sammy Cortez of San Angelo Patrick Cortez and wife, Doreen of Irving, TX Two brothers:Lupe S. Cortez and wife, Lucia of Lubbock Fred S. Cortez and wife, Sara of Irving, TX One sister:Janie Valdez of Irving, TX Fifteen grandchildren Nine great-grandchildren Numerous nieces and nephews Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Cortez, Timothy Salazar, John Albert Diaz, Genero Cortez, Michael Cortez and Steven Arriaga.
