Ernest G. Fernandez

Ernest "Neto" G. Fernandez, 63, of San Angelo passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at his residence. Viewing will begin at 12 noon Thursday September 22, 2011 with a rosary recited at 7:00 pm in the Robert Massie riverside Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm Friday September 23, 2011 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with Father Emilio Sosa officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Ernest was born on August 1, 1948 to Abel V. and Berta Reina (Garcia) Fernandez in Del Rio, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1969, served in Vietnam, and served his country proudly. He was medically discharged from the Army and worked for Texas Instruments and later in construction. Ernest was preceded in death by his father, Abel V. Fernandez. Ernest is survived by his mother, Berta Reina Garcia Fernandez of San Angelo; daughters, Crystal Fernandez and Ashley Fernandez; son, Ernest Rodriguez all of Dallas; brother, Deacon Abel Fernandez and his wife Mary of San Angelo; sisters, Oneida Padilla of San Angelo, and Odelia Hirt and her husband Mark of San Angelo; grandchildren, Marco Fernandez; Victoria Fernandez; Dalenna Fernandez; Jacob Fernandez; Abby Fernandez; and Jorden Fernandez. The family would like to thank Hospice of San Angelo and the doctors and nurses from Shannon Medical Center who attended Ernest.
