Ester Pena, 79, of San Angelo passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2006 in a local nursing home. Rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 19, 2006 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 20, 2006 at St. Margaret's Catholic Church with Father Joseph Choutapalli officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Ester was born January 28, 1926 in Mertzon to Nicolas and Isabel Martinez on January 28, 1926. She went to school in San Angelo. She married Pablo Tucar Pena on February 2, 1941 in San Angelo. She worked as a production worker for Ethicon, Inc for 27 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicolas and Isabel Martinez, two nephews Tommy Martinez of Dallas and Damian Martinez of San Angelo. Survivors are: Ester's devoted husband, Pablo Pena, sons Pablo "Paul" Pena, Jr., Richard Pena and Edward Pena, one sister Mary Martinez and husband, Pete of Dallas, three brothers Macario Martinez and wife, Angie of San Angelo, Daniel Martinez of San Angelo and Nicolas Martinez Jr. and wife, Mary of Grand Prairie, eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, brother-in-law Frank Pena and wife, Trinidad and sister-in-law Paulina Pena. Pallbearers will be Edward M. Pena Sr., Edward M. Pena Jr., Gary Pena, Esther Daniele Martinez, Pete Martinez and Alex Martinez. Memorials may be given to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 1132, Fairfax, Virginia 22038-1132, or Vista Care Hospice of San Angelo, 402 N. Bryant Blvd., 76903.
