Evangelina "Eva" Ortega Flores, age 90, of Richland Hills, Texas formerly a long-time resident of San Angelo, Texas passed away at Medical City North Hills Hospital in North Richland Hills, Texas on July 28th, 2017. Eva was born to Jose Cawley Ortega and Maria Elena DeLeon on July 18th, 1927 in Hawley, Texas. She was the youngest sibling of six children Clara, Elizabeth "Bessie", Jose "Pepe", Maria Antonia and Beatrice, and grew up in San Angelo. Eva married the love of her life, Antonio "Tony" E. Flores on July 5th, 1947. The couple settled in San Angelo, where they raised their daughter, Sylvia. Tony and Eva spent more than 83 years in San Angelo before relocating to Richland Hills four years ago to be closer to their family. Eva was dedicated and a hard worker. During World War II, she and her late sister Beatrice worked for Goodfellow Air Force Base supporting the troops. After she married, she worked with her husband Tony E. Flores in his Tailor Shop for many years before retiring. Eva was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and was known for sharing her home to care for family and friends in need. She became affectionately known as "Grandma". Eva loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking and preparing meals for her family and friends. She was especially known for making homemade tortillas which many called the "best tortillas in the world." Eva attended Catholic Mass on a regular basis and encouraged her family members in the Catholic beliefs, she had a good sense of humor. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Eva was the beloved wife of the Tony E. Flores, devoted mother of Sylvia. She was the loving "Grandma" of Sanjay and Athena Mathew, Fernando and Lorina Rodriguez, George and Nicole Garcia, Roland Goveas, Douglas and Myda Cassel, Chez and Crystal Garcia and to her Great Grandchildren Phillip Ibarra II, Erica Rodriguez, Sasha Mathew, Fernando Rodriguez II, Ayesha Mathew, Alejandro Diego Mathew, Antonio Garcia, Sophia Garcia, Gustavo Garcia, Jason Garcia, Eva Garcia, Max Garcia, and Zander Garcia and to her Great Great Grandchildren Sylver Ibarra, Scarlet Rose, and Eli Garcia. Viewing will be 10:00am to 8:00pm on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 with the rosary held at 7:00pm at the Robert Massie Funeral Home 402 Rio Concho Dr., San Angelo, TX. 76903. Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am Wednesday August 2, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Joey Faylona, officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
