On Sunday, October 14, Fred E. Griffin, Jr. was reunited in heaven with his wife, Juanita, who was the love of his life. Fred, one of five children, was born September 26, 1926, to Fred E., Sr. and Lucille Miller Griffin, in San Angelo, Texas. Fred live in San Angelo all of his adult life. During World War II, he served in the United States Army. After serving his country, Fred met his sweetheart, Mary Juanita Ainsworth, and they were married on June 14, 1947. They shared forty-nine years together until her death in 1996. Fred was gifted as an excellent and talented craftsman, focusing on accuracy as a carpenter. A homebuilder for many years, Fred was in business with his two brothers, Jessie and Dub. Their homes are here today as a testament to Fred's incredible attention to detail and his unsurpassed worth ethic. He as preceded in death by his wife, Mary Juanita; his sister, Ruth Brahnam; his brothers, Jessie Griffin and Dub Griffin; and just last week, his mother-in-law, Lorene Ainsworth Holden. Fred is survived by his sons, Fred L. Griffin and Gary Griffin; his daughter and her husband, Debra and Terry Butler; his sister and her husband, Evelyn and Allen Williams; his sisters-in-law, Virginia Griffin and Laverne Griffin; his granddaughter, Kimberly Underwood; many wonderful nieces and nephews; and delightful great nieces and great nephews. A service of honor and celebration of Fred's life will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, October 18, in the chapel of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Reverend Taylor Sandlin will officiate.
