FRIEDA JOYCE SKILES

Frieda Joyce Skiles, 75, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 2, 2009 at her residence. She loved and was devoted to her family and friends and will be dearly missed. Family visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, December 4, 2009 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home, with Rev. J. T. Tucker, of Vista Care Hospice, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Kurt Williams, Beau Bessent, Chad Daugherty, Mike Daugherty, Brad Daugherty, and Paul Williams. Joyce was born on December 31, 1933, in Lometa, TX to Johnnie and Vallie Daniels. Joyce married James T. Skiles on July 27, 1952 in Rockwall, TX and they shared 55 wonderful years together until Jim'™s passing on July 10, 2008. Joyce saw the world over 20 years of traveling the globe as a military wife. Her favorite overseas tour was Italy. She still has dear military friends from New York to California. Upon Jim'™s retirement they returned to San Angelo where she began her work career at Glodt Flowers as a floral decorator. She always had a love for flowers and plants. As a talented seamstress she went to work for R. G. Barry of San Angelo in 1971, where she retired as a Quality Assurance supervisor in 1995, after 24 years. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim Skiles, and two nephews, Jon Bessent and Roy Skiles. Frieda is survived by her daughters, Jamie Rainey and husband Kerry of San Angelo; Teresa Pina and husband Bert of Abilene; Dawn Sanders and husband Jim of Amarillo; grandchildren Brandon Hines of Corpus Christi; twins Shawn and Tiffany Pina, Manuel Pina, John Michael Pina all of Abilene and Austin Sanders of Amarillo; sisters, Wilma Williams and husband Billy of Post and Waunice Bessent and husband Ronnie of Lometa; niece, Sheri York of Lubbock; nephews, Kurt Williams of Post; Beau Bessent of Eagle Pass; great niece, Danica Williams of Post; and a sister-in-law, Oneta Moore of San Angelo; two very special cousins Doris Daugherty and Nadine Williams; and numerous nephews and nieces by marriage, along with her little dog Winston, her daily companion and protector. Joyce'™s family would like to extend a special thank you to Joan, Maggie, and Angie for their devoted and loving care. They would also like to thank Dr. Blanc, his Nurse Practitioner Mary Wilson, Respiratory Therapist Lori Quain at SACMC, and Vista Care Hospice staff for their special care. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Jon Bessent Memorial Scholarship Fund at 215 Ester Resa Rd., Lometa, TX 76853.
