George Thomas "Tommy" Edwards Our angel George Thomas "Tommy" Edwards returned to heaven on Friday, December 23rd, 2011. A viewing will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 30, 2011 at Robert Massie Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jim Benson officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Having always seen the world from another perspective, Tommy intrigued and inspired those who witnessed the many complexities of the Autism which set him apart. Tommy charmed those who knew him with his quirky sense of humor, and amazed us with his moments of genius. We have been blessed not only by the life's lessons which he taught us, but the compassion, empathy, and humanity that he inspired in us, and the joy that he gave us; he will be missed. Born on March 7th, 1955, in San Angelo, Texas, Tommy is preceded in death by his parents George "Jake" & Nora "Becky" Edwards, his grandparents John & Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Edwards, and Thomas & Sara Louise Lay. He is survived by sisters Marlu & husband Gary Riemer of Hempstead, Tx, Cyndy & husband Rick Thornton of LaPorte, TX, Twilah & husband Marco Jansen of Alvin, TX, brothers Kelly & wife Desiree Edwards of Goodlettsville, TN, Eric & wife Candace Edwards of Katy, TX , and sister Bonny & husband Mark Slaughter of LaPorte, TX. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins. The family would like to thank the many caring people who were involved in Tommy's care over the last several years when he was a resident of the State Supported Living Centers in San Angelo and in Brenham Texas.
