Georgia Ann Sykes

Georgia Ann Sykes, age 71, of San Angelo, TX, passed away on August 28, 2015 in San Angelo, TX. Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Robert Massie Funeral Home with Chaplain J.T. Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Pioneer Rest Cemetery in Menard, TX. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Georgia was born in San Antonio, TX to Linda Nixon Yarbrough and Richard Yarbrough on March 11, 1944. She graduated from Menard High School. She married John Albert Sykes in February of 1964 in Menard. Georgia worked as an auditor for the State Comptroller's Office for many years before retiring. Georgia's 5 grandchildren were her life. She loved supporting them and watching them in their activities. She also had 3 great grandchildren and many, many other children in her extended family that she loved and who adored her. Georgia spent a great amount of time helping those who needed her from relatives in nursing homes to the many, many children and friends in her life. Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, Linda and Richard Yarbrough and her husband, Albert Sykes. She is survived by her daughter Sherri Rhea and husband Wessley Rhea; son, Wes Sykes and wife, Carolyn Sykes; sister, Mary Linn Brawley and husband Jerry Brawley; grandchildren, Lane Rhea, Brad Rhea, Megan Brydon, Hunter Sykes, and Cole Sykes; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Pallbearers will be Lane Rhea, Brad Rhea, Hunter Sykes, Cole Sykes, Trevor Brawley, Aaron Brawley, Justin Halfmann, and Tyler Halfmann. Memorials may be given to the West Texas Boys Ranch. However, Georgia was a "giver", please feel free to give to a charity of your choice.
