Gilbert, lovingly known as "Garcia", "Tata" and "Popo", was born January 5, 1956 in Rowena to Federico and Ninfa Alvarado Garcia. He attended school in San Angelo and met the love of his life, Ramona Gaitan. They married in October of 1972. He then received his mechanic license through CCI and upon completion became self-employed doing what he loved best. Unfortunately due to health conditions he had to retire in 2003. One of Garcia's greatest accomplishments was becoming a father to his four daughters, where he became "Tata". Later in life he became a grandfather and received the title "Popo". Garcia loved being around family, was always smiling and laughing, loved the Texas Rangers and especially loved the Dallas Cowboys. Although he couldn't speak following his stroke, that didn't stop him from communicating with people, he had special signs for everything and everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Rumaldo Frausto, Jr., and his great granddaughter, Legacye Renee Parker.
Garcia is survived but his wife, Ramona Garcia, his four daughters; Elizabeth "Lisa" Pina, Leticia Garcia, Corina Garcia and husband Mag Suniga, and Laura Garcia and husband Israel Reyes; 11 grandchildren, Baby Mag Suniga, Jr., Chone Suniga, Annalisa Botello and wife Megan, Mario Hernandez and wife Guadalupe, Felix Pina, Jr. and wife Miranda, Gibby Reyes, Fred Angel Garcia, Alex Parker and wife Monique, I.J. Reyes and wife Megan, Lorena Reyes and Isabel Reyes; one bonus grandson, Brandon Tristan; 8 great grandchildren, Yessica, Alina, Serenity, Alizae, Angelo, Savior, Salice and Zariyah; three brothers, Ruben Velasquez, Pablo Frausto, and Arturo Velasquez; four sisters, Juana Frausto, Maria Frausto, Lucia Frausto and Christina Frausto; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Felix Pina, Jr., Mario Hernandez, I.J. Reyes, Alex Parker, Israel Reyes, Megan Botello, Mag Suniga, and Brandon Tristen.
